  • Early Stage Game

I want to know how to play tournaments in early stage. you have just joined the tournament. Is it worth taking risks in early stage of the game. I am with 220 bb and my opponent is with 450bb at 40/80. he shoves i fold and show AKo preflop. next hand i again get AKo he again shoves he is OOP i call this time and lose to 88. and i am out of the tournament. So When it is okay to play premium hands and build your stack in early stage of the game and when it is not?

there is no such thing as when to play premium hand on early stage. I generally like to play tight as well during early stage. about your hand against 88, your outs didnt hit. you had 45% chance to hit against 88 but no Ace or king popped up. happens sometimes. that doesnt mean you played wrong.
I would have played those AK as well considering most of the players on low buy in tournaments go all in with anything

Pocket pair against AKo is a coin flip situation. It makes sense to avoid coin flips in early stage of the tournament.
It's very tempting to play AKs and AKo for all in as this hand is a huge underdog only against pocket Aces and Pocket Kings. Nonetheless against pocket pairs QQ-22 it continues to be slight underdog. So better avoid it unless the opponent is too loose and can push hands like weak Ace/suited Ace/KQ for all in.

AA suited is a very good hand
